For most of you this will be the first visit and trip to Bulgaria.

If you travel by car you can find several routes how to get to Varna, depending on your starting point.

2. Igoumenitsa to Varna – with ferry to Igoumenitsa
3. Istanbul to Varna – with ferry to Istanbul
4. Kiev to Varna
5. Krakow to Varna
6. Patras to Varna – with ferry to Patras
7. Tallin to Varna
8. Trieste to Varna
9. Vienna to Varna via Serbia
10. Vienna to Varna via Romania

• Varna Airport – 5 km from the city
• Bourgas Airport – 110 km from Varna
• Plovdiv Airport – 350 km from Varna
• Sofia Airport – 430 km from Varna

Important issues:

1. Refueling and rest – we recommend the following petrol stations: Shell, OMV, Lukoil, EKO and Petrol. They have good facilities, shops, restaurants, etc.
2. Bulgarian currency: EUR 1 = BGN 1,95583. Most probably you will not get a good exchange rate at the border, therefore it is recommended to exchange money in a bigger city. It is recommended to exchange money in a bank, because some change offices charge higher commissions.
